The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Diversity Sub-I program provides opportunities to experience the exceptional training that the University of Washington has to offer to students from historically underrepresented groups in the health and science professions. Students spend four weeks on a PM&R team, participating in the duties and functions of a medical student intern. Students are also expected to attend all scheduled house staff teaching sessions and conferences.

Program goals

Encourage students to consider a career in PM&R

Enhance student awareness of opportunities in academic medicine

Provide specific mentoring and networking for students from historically underrepresented groups in the health and science professions

Eligibility

The PM&R Diversity Sub-I program is open to 4th year medical students who demonstrate academic excellence and belong to groups that are historically underrepresented in the health and science professions including, but not limited to: Black/African American, Indigenous persons, American Indian, Alaska Native, Latinx, Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander, persons with disabilities, and transgender and non-binary persons. Applicants should be strongly motivated to pursue a career in Rehabilitation Medicine and must be in good standing at an LCME- or AOA-accredited US medical school.

Available rotations
